1. Who benefits from the Mill Race Marathon?
The Mill Race Marathon benefits different organizations dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles in Columbus. In our first four years, we were able to donate over $295,000 to various charities. Our 2017 goal is to donate $80,000 to our chosen beneficiaries!
2. How many years has the Mill Race Marathon been around?
This is the event's fifth year.
3. How many runners can I expect to see on race day?
We hope to see 5,000 runners in this year's race between the Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K and Kids Run.
4. Is this marathon a Boston Qualifier?
5. Will the Full Marathon course include the Columbus Municipal Airport tarmac again?
Yes! After receiving feedback from past year's participants, we've included this exciting part of the course again this year.
6. Where can I get a parking pass?
Parking passes may be picked up during Friday Packet Pick-up at The Commons at the Health and Fitness Expo. These passes allow you to park in one of the available parking garages (all free with your pass) and include information on road closings throughout race day.
7. Where is the Health and Fitness Expo?

8. I live in Southern Indiana - what training is available to me?
Starting May 27 the Columbus Running Club is hosting a 17-week training for all race lengths. Learn more on the Training tab of our website.
9. What if I sign up for one event and decide to switch?
Switching is completely fine! However, if you switch to a more costly event, you will have to pay the difference. On the other hand, if you switch to a less expensive event, you will not be reimbursed.
To switch events prior to September 1st, please send an email request to Info@MillRaceMarathon.com. If you are moving into a more expensive event, you will also need to mail in a check made out to Mill Race Marathon.
Switching events on or after September 1st will take place at the Friday Packet Pickup. Please first pick up your race packet and then go to the HELP TABLE at packet pickup to get the change taken care of.
10. Can I push my child in a stroller while I run? Can my dog run with me?
Strollers are only allowed during the 5K. Participants with a stroller must start in the back for safety purposes. For safety and insurance purposes, animals are not permitted on the race courses.
11. Where do the Half Marathon and Full Marathon courses split?
The Full and Half Marathon courses split just before mile 12. If participants of the Full Marathon do not reach this split by 10:45 a.m. (keeping a 15 minute/mile pace), they will be directed onto the Half Marathon course, and they will be official finishers of the Half Marathon being scored and timed accordingly.
12. What food and drinks will be at the Finish Line?
The following items will be available at the Finish Line:
- Granola Bars
- Water Bottles
- Powerade (Mountain Berry Blast)
13. What food and drinks will be at the water stops?
Most water stops will offer both water and Powerade. The water stop just before mile 10 will have a variety of GU Gel flavors. The water stops near miles 15 and 22 will have Bananas as well as a variety of GU Gel flavors. The GU Gel flavors for 2017 are: Jet Blackberry, Strawberry Banana, Chocolate Outrage and Salted Carmel

14. Will there be restrooms along the courses?
Portable restrooms are available at every water station and medical tent along the course, as well as near the 5k and 10k points of the full and half marathons.
15. Will finishers receive medals?
Yes, all finishers of the full marathon, half marathon and 5K will receive a finisher medal.
16. Is there a way to track runners as they make their way along the course?
Yes! Anyone interested in tracking a runner(s) should register for the text tracking feature on our runner tracking page.
17. Can I pick up someone else’s race packet?
Yes, that is allowed. You will need to bring a copy of their photo ID and a note from them (i.e. an email) that states that you have permission to pick up their packet. At Packet Pickup, you will also need to sign a form stating that you picked up their race packet.
18. Can someone else pick up my race packet?
Yes, that is allowed. They will need to bring a copy of your photo ID and a note from you (i.e. an email) that states that they have your permission to pick up your packet. At Packet Pickup, they will also need to sign a form stating that they picked up your race packet.
19. I am unable to participate. Can I get a refund?
All entry fees are non-refundable.
20. Can I change my shirt size?
You may exchange your shirt after the race at the Finish on Fourth Merchandise booth. Note - shirt exchanges after the race will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
21. Are there age requirements in this race?
No, there are no age restrictions, but parents must sign a waiver for any participant under the age of 18.
22. Will there be a place to leave extra clothing?
Complimentary gear check will be available inside the Commons on the main floor starting at 6:45 am. Please do not leave any valuables.
23. Can I transfer my entry to another person?
Yes, you may transfer your entry to another person by following these processes:
Before September 1st
Please have the new person enter the event by printing out an entry form from our website at www.MillRaceMarathon.com, filling it out and signing the waiver, then sending it in with a $5 check made out to Mill Race Marathon. The $5 is the only cost for the transfer of registration. The copy of this email along with their completed entry form will signal us to (1) not charge them for the entry, (2) document the $5 transfer fee is paid, and (3) replace your entry with their new entry in our database.
On or After September 1st
Transfers will be handled at the Packet Pickup Help Table on Friday. The person who is giving away the entry must send an email to the person receiving their entry with clear direction of their intent to transfer their entry. [Example: I John Doe wish to transfer my Half Marathon entry in the Mill Race Marathon to Suzy Smith.] This email must then be brought to packet pickup by the recipient as proof of intent to transfer.
The person receiving the entry will fill out an entry form, sign the waiver, proceed to the Help Table at Friday Packet Pickup, and pay the $5 transfer fee to complete the transfer.
24. Can I still register (after GetMeRegistered.com closes)?
Yes! You can register at Packet Pickup on Friday at The Commons in downtown Columbus. Please go to the HELP TABLE to register.
25. What is the cost to sign up on race weekend?
Late fees apply to race weekend registration. Register prior to race weekend and save! (See registration prices at this link.) Registration at packet pickup will cost $95 for the full marathon, $80 for the half-marathon and $35 for the 5k. Participation in the Kids Fun Run is free. Please note there is no race day registration for the Marathon or Half-Marathon.
26. Can you confirm that I have entered the race? Can you check if I have entered the race?
You can confirm your entry on our website at www.MillRaceMarathon.com.
27. Are Ipods/Earphones Allowed?
While discouraged for safety and awareness reasons, they are allowed. Please do not put them on until mile 1, and please take them off the last mile of your race so you can hear instruction and encouragement on the course. Since it will be impossible for us to enforce these guidelines, we ask that participants self-police this … especially at the starting line, for the sake of the safety and courtesy of all participants.
28. Does the Mill Race Marathon use pacers?
Yes! We will have pacers for the first time this year in the full and half marathon distance races. The pace times are as follows:
Full – 3:35, 3:40, 3:55, 4:10, 4:25, 4:40, 5:00, Sweeper (6:48)
Half – 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30, 2:45, 3:00, Sweeper (3:57)

Yes - lost and found is located at Gear Check inside The Commons.
